Interlude
August is awake. This means for certain that something is wrong. The words of that elder monster still ring in his head.Context is for kings and I am a god!
Your story was unimportant, you are not who you say you are.
Surely he had been banished back to Arcadia, surely he had to walk again. He had lost, revenge had been out of his grasp. His commitment to The City, his duty to Her. It was all over.
He opens his eyes and is somewhere else. Another man looks up at him, he is broad shouldered, his hair a messy blond and he has a look of detemination on his face. He is shackled though, in a bare room. The man gives August a look of confusion. August takes the moment to take in the surroundings - a metal table covered in papers, a well dressed woman who looked very bored, a single door.
"You have a tail." The man says. There is a tray in front of him but August can't make out what is on the tray. He notices that there are other things he can't make out too. Other than the man the whole room seems blurred as if obscured by fog.
"Is that unusual here?"
The man nods "It is, I think."
They stand looking at each other for a few seconds.
The man breaks the silence "You're Samuel aren't you?"
